Our History
Meetings in association with the Free Presbyterian Church have been held in Antrim since the early 1960’s. Gospel Missions and occasional meetings conducted by Ministers and others involved in the founding of our domination, saw the Lord work in the salvation of souls and an increasing interest in the things of God.

By the end of 1974, weekly meetings had commenced in Muckamore Orange Hall, and in January 1978 the little group of believers found a new home in Antrim Protestant Hall. The 28th of December 1978 marked a turning point in the witness, when the work was constituted as a congregation of the Free Presbyterian Church.

A few years later the congregation was able to obtain their present site on the Parkhall Road, and a suitable structure was erected. There then followed a period of stability and growth, with the Lord blessing the labours of those placed in charge of the congregation, and in the year 1986 the Church found itself in a position to call its first Minister. However, 1992 marked a dark period in the history of the congregation. Difficulties in the Church and the destruction of their building by fire, found a small group of people back again in Muckamore Orange Hall, where they continued to meet for a period of six years. Despite those setbacks, the congregation continued ‘steadfast unmovable’ and on the 1st of April 1999 Rev. John Armstrong was installed as Minister of the congregation. A new building was subsequently opened on the Parkhall Road. Rev. Armstrong ministered in Antrim for nine years before accepting a call to Portavogie Free Presbyterian Church.

The present Minister, Rev. Paul Thompson was installed as the minister of Antrim Free Presbyterian Church on the 31st of July 2015. The congregation are thankful to God for past mercies and are looking to the Lord to further consolidate and build up the congregation.
